About The Position

The Standard’s Summer Legal Internship Program is designed for a first- or second-year law student during the 2026–2027 academic year to develop and enhance practical legal skills in an in-house legal environment. The paid, fully remote internship is scheduled for Summer 2027 and lasts a minimum of eight weeks, with a possible extension to a maximum of 10 weeks. Interns work under the supervision of department attorneys and receive assignments from each of Legal’s four attorney teams: Claims & Litigation, Transactions, Employment, and Asset Management Group Legal. They learn about The Standard’s business operations, interact with internal business partners, and gain exposure to a range of legal practice areas and advisory work. The program is not intended to recruit new attorney hires following law school graduation. Interns receive a program mentor who provides introductions, assignments, feedback, and regular check-ins, including an exit interview. The program also offers guidance on legal career paths, resumes, interview skills, and preparing a writing sample, as well as networking, training, and opportunities to work with law firms representing The Standard. The position is remote within the continental United States and Hawaii, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. based on the intern’s time zone, for 40 hours per week. Compensation is $28–$30 per hour, with up to three days of paid time off accrued based on hours worked and company-paid holidays during the internship period. Equipment necessary for the internship, such as a laptop, monitors, and headset, is provided.
