About The Position

This position is intended for professionals who wish to apply their analytical skills and understanding of the law to the development and management of legal publications. The Legal Editor plays a key role in developing legal textbooks, managing an assigned portfolio of publications, working closely with recognized authors, and contributing to the publication of leading reference works relied upon by the legal community. This is an editorial role, distinct from the traditional practice of law and from legal writing. Reporting to the Editorial Manager, Canada Analytical Content, the position will include the following key responsibilities: Oversee and coordinate the publications within their portfolio, available both online and in print; Follow up with authors to ensure the timely delivery of manuscripts and updates according to established schedules; Recruit new authors and replace authors who have withdrawn; Participate in the editorial process and the publication of French-language manuscripts; Establish and maintain strong relationships with the legal community, including practitioners, academics, members of the judiciary, librarians, and other external partners; Contribute to various translation projects; Act as a resource person for authors and various internal departments.

Requirements

  • Excellent French language skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent English language skills (oral and written)
  • Law degree required
  • Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines for print and online
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of cross-departmental project teams
  • Excellent communication (oral and written)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office suit
  • Experience operating with AI as a standard part of workflows, including demonstrated hands-on experience using LLMs and AI-enabled tools daily to support content and analysis; iterating prompts to improve output quality and consistency
