About The Position

This job provides legal support to the general counsel and other legal department attorneys and provides legal advice and counsel to internal clients on a variety of matters related to a large healthcare system and medical/clinical environment, including legal, risk, healthcare, and regulatory matters. Requirements

  • Juris doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • 2 years of transactional and negotiation experience with a law firm, governmental regulatory organization, healthcare organization, or corporate legal department.
  • Current admission to practice law in state of practice or active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and ability and commitment to obtain bar membership (in the state of practice) within time frame approved by general counsel.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the organization.
  • Ability to be a motivated self-starter and manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to be flexible with regard to varied assignments and willing to develop new areas of expertise.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., more than 8 hours a day).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a hospital or medical/clinical environment or representing clients in the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers legal services to the health system's internal clients as a member of the the company's legal department.
  • Provides legal transactional support to include drafting, negotiating, and contract reviews.
  • Performs legal research, training, and general corporate legal support as assigned.
  • Identifies and guards against legal risks.
  • Interacts with and directs outside counsel and administrative staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
