About The Position

This is a Legal Counsel role supporting the Reinsurance Solutions business unit, with a sharp focus on the contractual and legal frameworks behind risk intelligence platforms and fee-based digital services. The role will advise on the development, commercialization, and regulatory positioning of flagship SaaS offerings—such as Risk Data & Services (RDS), CatNet, and Magnum—as well as bespoke consulting engagements. The team is a global team of 10 legal professionals based across Europe and North America, embedded in the heart of Swiss Re’s innovation engine and backed by Swiss Re's global Legal & Compliance function. They support the company’s diversification into tech-driven revenue streams and are passionate about delivering pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice. Requirements

A U.S. law degree and bar admission
At least 5 years of post-qualification experience (ideally in-house or at a firm with tech or re/insurance clients)
Proven expertise in negotiating SaaS and commercial tech contracts
Familiarity with U.S. re/insurance regulatory frameworks or an interest to develop this experience in house
Excellent communication and influencing skills
A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset with high integrity and sound judgment

Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, with a strong emphasis on SaaS contracts and platform access terms.
Provide legal guidance on the development and deployment of tech platforms in the re/insurance space.
Partner with sales, product owners, engineers, risk management and compliance teams across global markets to enable scalable, sustainable growth.
Develop internal policies and frameworks to uphold legal integrity and operational efficiency.
Engage and oversee outside legal advisors as needed.
Monitor legal and regulatory trends, develop legal templates and knowhow, scalable best practices, and deliver internal training on emerging issues in tech solutions.
