About The Position

This role supports Dayforce’s Litigation Team, led by Dayforce’s VP AGC (Employment & Litigation), in managing active and potential legal claims (including civil, administrative, and regulatory matters) involving Dayforce. The successful candidate will report directly to Dayforce’s Senior Legal Counsel (Litigation). This position is suited for a junior lawyer looking to build in-house experience across a broad range of litigation matters. The successful candidate will work closely with Dayforce’s Litigation Team, internal stakeholders, and external counsel to support the full lifecycle of litigation, from early risk assessment through to resolution. Based in Winnipeg, this role is primarily remote, with periodic in-person collaboration with local colleagues (including Dayforce’s Senior Legal Counsel (Litigation) and VP AGC (Employment & Litigation).

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD or equivalent) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • Qualified to practice law in a Canadian jurisdiction; eligibility to practice in Manitoba is preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of post-call experience in civil litigation, gained at a law firm or in-house
  • Working knowledge of civil procedure and litigation processes
  • Experience supporting multiple matters simultaneously, with strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment in handling confidential information
  • Proficiency in English is required for this position as this role will regularly interact with English-speaking stakeholders, co-workers, managers and/or clients across the world.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with bankruptcy and insolvency matters is considered an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of Dayforce’s litigation portfolio
  • Assist with all stages of the litigation lifecycle, including early case assessment, document collection, discovery, and resolution
  • Help manage and respond to subpoenas and other third-party information requests
  • Support the administration of litigation processes, including e-discovery and litigation holds
  • Assist in managing matters involving customer or third-party bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings affecting Dayforce (experience in this area is an asset)
  • Conduct legal research and provide practical, business-oriented advice regarding civil litigation and procedural matters
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external counsel to ensure effective and consistent handling of disputes
  • Analyze legal and business issues to contribute to clear, risk-based recommendations
  • Contribute to the development of internal resources and training on litigation-related topics and risk mitigation
