About The Position
Conveo is scaling fast, with Fortune 500 clients, global contracts, and high-stakes enterprise legal reviews. This role offers the opportunity to own the legal and commercial operations that allow Conveo to scale without friction. The Legal Associate will spend the majority of their time (~85%) building and running the contract lifecycle machine. The remaining time will be dedicated to supporting broader legal needs, including data privacy and corporate matters, providing exposure to the full spectrum of in-house legal work at a scaling AI company. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role focused on accelerating deal velocity, providing day-to-day legal support, leveraging AI for legal operations, driving operational excellence, and enabling commercial growth.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in commercial or technology law (in-house or top-tier firm).
- Deep expertise in SaaS contracts: MSAs, DPAs, order forms, SOWs, NDAs.
- Working knowledge of US data privacy law (CCPA/CPRA and other state privacy laws) and familiarity with GDPR for international clients.
- Experience negotiating with enterprise legal teams.
- High agency: ability to identify legal risks and solve them before they become blockers.
- Ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-lawyers.
- Comfortable building legal processes from scratch — templates, playbooks, workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- Proficiency with contract lifecycle tools (e.g. Juro) and AI tools (e.g. Claude, Harvey, Legora).
Nice To Haves
- Experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS or AI company.
- Familiarity with UK or EU commercial or corporate law.
- Experience with IP protection or sector-specific data protection regulations beyond US state privacy laws and GDPR.
- Background in data-heavy industries, market research, or adtech.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day legal operations, working closely with the legal associate and operations team in the EU to build a unified legal machine across regions.
- Contribute to the wider legal function beyond contracts, advising internal teams on standard legal questions and risk management.
- Review and redline incoming documents such as client paper, vendor agreements, and partner terms, providing clear recommendations.
- Support data privacy compliance (DPAs, US state privacy laws, GDPR for international clients) and corporate legal hygiene as the company scales across jurisdictions.
- Coordinate with external counsel on tactical legal questions.
- Contribute to new legal challenges as they arise, with the scope growing with the individual.
- Own the contract lifecycle end-to-end, building an AI and automation-powered machine to handle MSAs, DPAs, order forms, amendments, and NDAs for enterprise and agency clients.
- Manage redlining and negotiation with client legal teams.
- Maintain templates to enable sales self-service on standard deals.
- Ensure a clean, trackable contract pipeline from first draft to signature.
- Accelerate deal velocity by standardizing templates, building a redlining playbook, creating a fast-track process for smaller deals, and partnering with sales to pre-empt legal bottlenecks.
- Operate with a focus on key metrics such as contracts closed, time from verbal commit to signature halved, deals unblocked, templates standardized, and internal teams confident in legal guidance.
