ASSOCIATE LEGAL COUNSEL

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Legal Counsel to join our Legal and Underwriting team. Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Hawaiʻi, or eligibility to obtain admission promptly upon hire.
- 0 to 3 years of legal experience; experience in real estate law, title insurance, escrow, or commercial transactions is preferred.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Ability to assess risk and provide practical business-oriented legal solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze title reports, legal documents, and transaction records to assist senior title underwriters with evaluating compliance with applicable underwriting standards.
- Provide legal research and guidance on title, escrow, and real estate matters affecting residential and commercial transactions.
- Assist in identifying, analyzing, and resolving title defects, risk exposures, and underwriting issues.
- Draft, review, and revise legal documents, including deeds, affidavits, indemnity agreements, easements, and other real estate-related instruments.
- Maintain accurate legal and underwriting files and documentation.
- Serve as a legal resource for internal teams and assist with training and educational initiatives as needed.
