The Delaware Department of Justice seeks a Legal Assistant (Paralegal) to provide support to Deputy Attorneys General in the Civil Division, Affirmative Litigation Unit in Kent County. This is a unique opportunity to provide support to DAGs who handle both civil matters and criminal cases. The Affirmative Litigation Unit administratively prosecutes a variety of cases and serves as legal counsel for designated state entities. The Unit also serves as legal counsel for various boards and commissions and has an appellate practice before the Delaware Superior and Supreme Courts when board and/or commissions’ orders are challenged. In addition, the Unit represents the Division of Gaming Enforcement and the Division of Alcohol, Tobacco and Marijuana Enforcement, who each have dedicated law enforcement assigned to them. Those DAGs provide general counsel to these Divisions as well as handle criminal prosecutions. This Legal Assistant must be capable of working efficiently in a high-paced work environment and must be a self-starter, detail-oriented and well organized.
