About The Position

Black & Graf, PLLC is a Las Vegas-based litigation firm known for aggressive advocacy, strategic counsel, and high-quality client service. Our litigation team focuses on insurance defense, business disputes, and complex civil litigation, and we're looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to support our attorneys through every stage of a case. This is a non-exempt position that reports to assigned attorney(s), with administrative oversight from the Firm Administrator. The ideal candidate will support attorneys through all stages of insurance defense litigation, including case preparation, discovery, trial support, and related administrative tasks, ensuring seamless legal operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of litigation legal assistant experience in a law firm setting; insurance defense experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with legal terminology, court rules, and procedures
  • Experience with Nevada state and federal court filings
  • Familiarity with trial preparation and supporting attorneys during hearings or trials
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Knowledge of Nevada state and federal court rules and e-filing systems (e.g., Odyssey)
  • Excellent typing, proofreading, and formatting skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting multiple attorneys in litigation
  • Familiarity with insurance carrier litigation guidelines and carrier reporting/billing platforms
  • Familiarity with CosmoLex and NetDocuments

Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, and proofread pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, correspondence, and other litigation documents
  • File legal documents through state and federal electronic filing systems, including Odyssey, eFlex, and CM/ECF (PACER)
  • Maintain and manage attorney and litigation calendars, including deadlines, hearings, and trial schedules
  • Organize and maintain case files and discovery materials, both electronic and physical, in accordance with firm policy and using NetDocuments
  • Schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, and client meetings
  • Assist with discovery, including interrogatories, document production, indexing, and summarizing deposition transcripts
  • Prepare trial binders, exhibit lists, and assist attorneys with trial preparation
  • Coordinate with court clerks, opposing counsel, clients, and expert witnesses
  • Prepare and submit case status reports and other required updates to insurance carriers in accordance with carrier litigation guidelines
  • Handle incoming calls, emails, and correspondence for assigned attorneys
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing case updates and collecting information as needed
  • Ensure timely and accurate attorney time entry in CosmoLex
  • Provide coverage for other Legal Assistants/Paralegals during absences as needed
  • Other duties as assigned; responsibilities are subject to change based on the firm's evolving operational needs
