About The Position

In coordination with the Commercial Litigation and Labor & Employment Practice Group Legal Team, this role provides legal and administrative support to attorneys, paralegals, peers, and other colleagues. The position requires working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment to deliver a high level of service to internal and external clients. Duties may vary based on office location and practice group.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.
  • Three (3) years of legal assistant experience or a minimum of one (1) year as a Legal Administrative Assistant at Holland & Hart required.
  • Advanced legal assistant skills, including accurate typing.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, punctuation and proofreading skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Strong knowledge of iManage, iCompli, Intapp, Chrome River, Expert Time and CompuLaw, or similar software.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local court rules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal with a wide variety of people inside and outside the firm.
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle the work of several attorneys/paralegals.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills to handle a variety of responsibilities under general supervision.

  • Advanced knowledge in one or more specialty areas preferred (i.e., litigation, corporate, tax, intellectual property, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Understands the specific needs and business of the practice group.
  • Manages the business intake process, including running adversary searches, drafting screening memos and engagement letters, and opening new files.
  • Prepares, revises, and formats legal documents and correspondence using various software applications, proofreading for accuracy and ensuring final form.
  • May transcribe digital audio files to create written transcripts.
  • May prepare documents and applicable fees for electronic filing with federal and state courts and other agencies.
  • Manages incoming and outgoing telephone calls, mail, hand deliveries, and emails.
  • Supports client activities and provides direct client assistance.
  • Maintains and manages attorney/paralalegal calendars, including docketing court deadlines, conferences, teleconferences, depositions, and other meetings.
  • Assists with in-office tasks, projects, overflow work, and administrative duties to support attorneys, paralegals, peers, and colleagues.
  • Navigates workflow technology with a high level of skill and partners with the central team for efficiency and quality.
  • Effectively manages workflow and priorities.
  • Proactively supports the team and demonstrates a positive and collaborative approach.
  • Serves as a resource to teammates.
  • Manages logistics for internal and external meetings.
  • May liaise with courts.
  • Performs additional duties and tasks as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the firm’s objectives.
