About The Position

SouthLaw, P.C. is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our Eviction Department. This position supports attorneys throughout the eviction process and plays an important role in ensuring cases move efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with client and court requirements. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is comfortable managing a high-volume workload, prioritizing competing deadlines, and working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 6 months legal office experience; or 2 years non-legal office experience; or an Associate’s Degree/ 60 undergraduate credit hours; or Paralegal Certification
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt as deadlines and case needs change.
  • Comfortable learning and working in multiple computer systems and software platforms.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Eligible to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Previous legal, administrative, case-management, or high-volume office experience preferred.
  • Experience with eviction, landlord-tenant, creditors’ rights, or civil litigation is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and process legal documents related to eviction matters.
  • Review client-provided documentation for accuracy and completeness and obtain additional information when needed.
  • Maintain case files and update information in the Firm’s case management system.
  • Calendar and monitor hearings, deadlines, and other important case dates.
  • Prepare attorneys for hearings and communicate hearing results and case updates to clients.
  • File pleadings and other legal documents through applicable electronic court filing systems.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, attorneys, opposing counsel, and other parties regarding case-related matters.
  • Review and process incoming mail, electronic filings, and case correspondence.
  • Assist with settlement documentation and other case-related tasks as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure work is completed in accordance with Firm procedures and client requirements.
  • Provide administrative and case-management support to attorneys and the Eviction Department as needed.
  • Periodically expected to train co-workers.
