We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Legal Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic Disputes team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting professionals within our Commercial Litigation Department by providing high-quality legal administrative and litigation support.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a legal administrative assistant, with experience and knowledge in Commercial/Civil Litigation and the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and exceptional proofreading skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, efficient manner with clients and external contacts as well as internally throughout the firm.
  • Highly organized team player with the ability to work under pressure, manage changing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with minimum supervision when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma from a recognized college preferred.
  • experience in ACL and CaseLines is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, draft, revise, serve and file correspondence and litigation documents, and assist with preparations for trials, examinations for discovery, closings and court proceedings, as required.
  • Take instructions, prioritize incoming work, follow through on assignments and manage ongoing tasks.
  • Establish internal protocols and tracking systems and ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Prepare accounts and manage pre-bills, and have a strong working proficiency with all accounting and billing procedures.
  • Possess the ability to support more than one professional and undertake additional responsibilities as required within the practice group and team.
  • Maintain schedules, book appointments, arrange travel, and prepare expense reports.
  • Other duties, as required.
