About The Position

Sunstate Equipment Co. is hiring a Legal Account Coordinator for its Phoenix, Arizona location. The role handles accounts that have exhausted internal collection efforts, negotiates balances to close accounts, and coordinates legal collection activity. The position is Monday through Friday on the day shift, with hybrid flexibility available after training. The role is hourly, with pay dependent on experience, and employees are paid weekly.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in construction collections and legal negotiations.
• Superior interpersonal and customer relations skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.

Nice To Haves

• Background in collections involving multi-jurisdictional preliminary notices, mechanic’s liens, and releases.

Responsibilities

• Collect accounts for which internal collections efforts have been exhausted and negotiate balances to close accounts.
• Coordinate the filing and release of mechanic’s liens, performance bond claims, and stop notices; verify as necessary upon supervisor approval and maintain corresponding log records.
• Evaluate lawsuit and post-judgment requests from collection agencies and attorneys and make decisions within provided guidelines.
• Review and attest miscellaneous paperwork.
• Assist with internal and external written, telephone, and email inquiries related to ‘S’ status accounts; refer matters to the appropriate agency or attorney when warranted and keep team members informed of status.
• Reconcile attorney billings and update the collections database.
• Review bankruptcy notices, make appropriate AS/400 notations, and file bankruptcy proofs of claim as needed.
