About The Position

The Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) is seeking a Lecturer for a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure-accruing position in the School of Natural Resources and Environment (SNRE) at the University of Florida's main campus in Gainesville. This role is 100% teaching and may change based on unit needs. The position offers a competitive salary and full benefits, with initial funding for two years and potential for extension. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of excellence in teaching, mentoring, and preparing students for professional success, with an emphasis on connecting interdisciplinary science fundamentals with modern practice and workplace readiness. The successful candidate will possess strong intellectual and communication skills, familiarity with higher education pedagogy, and a genuine commitment to student success.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) degree in environmental science, environmental social sciences, ecology, environmental engineering sciences, natural resources, or a closely related discipline.
  • Teaching experience in the environmental sciences or related fields at an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication and interpersonal relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to teach introductory environmental sciences.
  • Ability to develop courses in one or more of the following focus areas: environmental policy, environmental data analysis and analytics, and general and interdisciplinary ecology.
  • Experience with online teaching and familiarity with distance education delivery tools/strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as instructor for a general education course in Environmental Science (multiple sections).
  • Teach required and/or elective undergraduate courses in Environmental Science and Interdisciplinary Ecology.
  • Develop new instructional materials and course content as needed by the unit and per the applicant’s expertise.
  • Mentor students.
  • Participate in curriculum development and assessment activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to strengthen the undergraduate educational experience.
