About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) is seeking an Instructional Assistant Professor of Dance to begin Fall 2026. This is a non-tenure track, fixed-term, 9-month faculty position for over 3 academic years, with a possibility of renewal based on performance and/or institutional needs. The university is a Hispanic Serving Institution located in Laredo, Texas, with a focus on student success and research excellence.

Requirements

• Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Dance with a focus on Flamenco and Folklorico from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated success in teaching dance at the collegiate or professional level.
• Professional experience as a performer, choreographer, or dance artist.
• Evidence of effective teaching.
• Strong communication skills.
• Engagement with students of various backgrounds.
• Ability to acquire external funding is strongly encouraged.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to instruct multiple techniques such as ballet, modern, jazz, or contemporary.

Responsibilities

• Teaching undergraduate dance courses, including technique, choreography, and theory.
• Maintaining excellence in studio and classroom instruction.
• Developing course materials.
• Assessing student learning.
• Providing mentoring and academic advising.
• Choreographing and/or directing departmental performances.
• Participating in production activities.
• Contributing to curriculum development and program initiatives.
• Engaging in departmental, college, and university service.
• Supporting student recruitment and retention efforts.
• Recruiting students and applying for external funding to support student activities.
