About The Position

The School of Theatre and Dance is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in dance. This position requires a strong background in jazz dance pedagogy, with experience in teaching hip hop and other street dance styles. The successful candidate will contribute to the dance program through teaching, research, and service.

Requirements

• MFA in Dance or terminal degree in a related field from an accredited institution by contract start date, OR a bachelor's degree in Dance or related field with enrollment in an MFA program within 1 year of contract start date.
• Five years of professional performance and/or choreography experience.
• Three years of teaching experience.
• Demonstrated extensive knowledge of jazz dance pedagogy.
• Experience teaching hip hop and other street dance styles.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in jazz dance, hip hop, and other street dance styles.
• Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment.
• Engage in scholarly and creative activities, including performance and choreography.
• Mentor students and provide academic advising.
• Participate in departmental and university service activities.
