About The Position

The Department of English at the University of Central Oklahoma is seeking a One-Year, Full-Time Lecturer for the 2026-2027 academic year. The department is committed to recruiting and maintaining a diverse faculty and creating a welcoming environment for all. The lecturer will teach, advise, and mentor students, evaluate student performance, and maintain department and student records in accordance with university policies. They will adhere to the educational philosophy of the university and work collaboratively with colleagues and professional peers. Participation in university meetings related to faculty and service on department, college, and university committees may be requested.

Requirements

• M.A. or MFA in English or a closely related field.
• Commitment to high-quality teaching.
• Will hold a graduate degree in English or a closely related field by August 1, 2026.

Nice To Haves

• Degree is in Composition and/or Rhetoric or a related field.
• At least two years of experience teaching First-Year Composition in a college or university setting.

Responsibilities

• Primary teaching responsibilities could include Developmental English and First-Year Composition as well as concurrent sections of First-Year Composition taught off-site in local high schools; courses in other areas may be assigned as departmental need requires.
