The Department of French & Italian at the University of Kansas seeks individuals qualified to teach part-time to full-time undergraduate and graduate courses in French language and/or Francophone literatures and cultures. This position is primarily for teaching in-person courses at the Lawrence campus of the University of Kansas. Lecturers are non-tenure-track members of the faculty whose primary role is instruction with no obligations to perform research or service. Employment contracts will be committed on an academic year basis for one-year appointments. Normally, lecturers can expect to teach in the fall and spring (and summer for graduate courses) semester with a load of one to four courses. Lecturers may be reappointed for subsequent years contigent upon need, budget and teaching performance. This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between The University of Kansas and United Academics, United Academics of KU, AFT-AAUP, AFL-CIO; UAKU is the exclusive bargaining representative. As the State of Kansas is a right to work state, you have the right to be a member or not be a member of a union without fear of personal or professional repercussions. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. prior to the start date of the position.
