About The Position

The Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin- Madison seeks a lecturer to teach the following course for the Fall 2026 semester: Psychology 202 - "Introduction to Psychology" (3 credits), including its development, motivation, frustrations, emotion, intelligence, learning, forgetting, personality, language, thinking, and social behavior. Prepare and present lectures. Prepare, administer and grade exams. Hold office hours. Supervise one teaching assistant. This is a 33.4% appointment which will run from August 17 – December 30, 2026. This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.

Requirements

• Minimum one year of experience teaching in higher education, preferably at a large enrollment institution
• Demonstrated competence in teaching
• Possess current knowledge and background in Psychology
• Ability to respond to the needs of learners from a variety of educational backgrounds and learning styles
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Experience and expertise in student assessment
• Ability to work and complete tasks under deadline pressures
• Evidence of high degree of initiative and resourcefulness
• Proven success and effectiveness in working both independently and in teams
• Masters Degree in Psychology or relevant area required.
• Demonstrated expertise in area of specialization required.
• Eligibility to work in the United States on or before the effective date of appointment.

Nice To Haves

• PhD or other terminal degree preferred, or a degree at least one level above the level of instruction, or otherwise approved as qualified by the Dean

Responsibilities

• Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
• Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
• Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
• Prepare and present lectures.
• Prepare, administer and grade exams.
• Hold office hours.
• Supervise one teaching assistant.

Benefits

• The starting annual base salary for this 33.4% FTE fall position is $50,000. Actual compensation will be calculated based on candidates qualifications and experience and prorated based on the contract length and FTE.
