About The Position

Boston University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Lecturer in Biology. The Department of Biology at Boston University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer beginning September 1, 2026. This is a teaching track line with possibility of renewal and promotion based on performance. We seek a colleague with a commitment to undergraduate education and a track record of excellence in teaching. The instructor in this position will teach 4 courses per academic year. Courses may include Introductory Biology, Cell Biology, DNA Dynamics, Carcinogenesis, Genetics (general and intensive), and Human Infectious Disease (general microbiology with a focus on infectious disease). Specific courses will be determined according to the selected candidate’s expertise.

Requirements

  • PhD in biology or a related field.
  • Experience with evidence-based teaching practices.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 4 courses per academic year.
  • Serve on department or University committees.
  • Serve as an academic mentor to a cohort of undergraduate biology majors.
  • Develop curricular materials.
  • Serve as a research mentor for undergraduates participating in a Senior Thesis, Master’s or PhD committees.
  • Contribute to the development of academic initiatives.
