About The Position

The School of Education & Human Development (SHED) at the University of Colorado Denver is seeking a Lecturer – University Liaison. This role serves in a supervisory capacity for teacher candidates completing early field experiences and clinical internships. The university liaison collaborates with school-based leaders and mentor teachers to support teacher candidate development. In Professional Development Schools (PDS), liaisons may also teach a site-based collaborative learning community seminar and work with school leadership to support the university partnership. Additionally, liaisons may provide virtual supervision to students in statewide, job-embedded pathways, connect with candidates via Zoom, email, and video-coaching, serve on the CU Denver Teacher Education Partnership Council, and support the admission interview process for selecting teacher candidates.

Requirements

  • Earned master’s degree in education or relevant content area.
  • Successful teaching or leadership practice in K-12, especially with diverse student populations.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching teacher candidates and/or new teachers.
  • Evidence of significant collaboration skills in working with multiple stakeholders (e.g., district administrators, principals, teachers, etc.).
  • Proficient with basic technology (e.g., MS Word, Google documents, spreadsheets) and willingness to learn and utilize various technology platforms used in clinical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Ed.D. or Ph.D. in relevant content area.
  • Successful experience in teacher education at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Knowledge of culturally and linguistically responsive teaching practices.
  • Knowledge of preservice and novice teacher development.
  • Knowledge and skill in mentoring, coaching, and providing growth-producing feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in a supervisory capacity for teacher candidates completing early field experiences and clinical internships.
  • Work collaboratively with school-based leaders and practicing mentor teachers to support the development of teacher candidates.
  • Teach a site-based collaborative learning community seminar with the cohort of teacher candidates at the school (in PDS roles).
  • Collaborate closely with school leadership to support the development of the university partnership at the school, including inquiry and renewal of effective teaching practice (in PDS roles).
  • Provide virtual supervision to students in statewide, job-embedded pathways like P-TAP and T-PREP, connecting with and supporting candidates via Zoom, email and video-coaching.
  • Serve on the CU Denver Teacher Education Partnership Council that supports strong coordination of clinical experiences with coursework.
  • Support the admission interview process for selecting teacher candidates for the program.
