About The Position

The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure track, full-time, position at all ranks in the Lecturer series (working titles of Instructional Assistant/Associate/Full Professor). The position’s anticipated start date is ideally Fall 2026, but no later than Spring 2027. The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida (http://mae.ufl.edu/) has 58 faculty members working in all aspects of mechanical and aerospace engineering and is actively hiring. The total student population is approximately 3100 with nearly 200 in the Ph.D. program and 300 in M.S. programs. Recent US News & World Report has MAE ranked as 14th and 20th for the aerospace and mechanical engineering programs, respectively, among graduate engineering public universities in the US. Duties and responsibilities include developing and teaching mechanical and/or aerospace engineering capstone design and realization, including engagement with industry, and other laboratory-intensive courses in the curriculum. Senior candidates with prior experience teaching capstone design in mechanical and/or aerospace engineering programs may be considered for additional leadership duties related to management of industry partnerships in the MAE capstone programs. The candidate may also participate in department, university, and professional service activities and educational research activities. The MAE department is specifically looking for candidates with a passion for teaching and a desire to develop and/or continue a career in the pedagogy of experiential engineering education. Additionally, the ability and desire of candidates to work closely with other faculty in a team approach to instruction delivery, curriculum, and facility development is important.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate is expected to have a minimum of an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Technology with prior industrial and/or instructional experience in related fields or hands-on educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and teaching mechanical and/or aerospace engineering capstone design and realization, including engagement with industry, and other laboratory-intensive courses in the curriculum.
