About The Position

The Department of Engineering Education (EEd) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida (UF) is soliciting applications for a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Master Lecturer (working title Assistant/Associate/Full Instructional Professor) in the areas of artificial intelligence and applied data science with connected technical expertise in advanced machine learning (e.g., NLP, LLMs, computer vision, mathematical foundations for AI and data science, ML security), and/or proficiency in at least one sensing modality. Although the anticipated hiring rank is Lecturer/Instructional Assistant Professor, senior levels will be considered based upon experience. Requirements

  • PhD in engineering or a closely related discipline
  • The selected candidate must provide an official transcript to the hiring department upon hire. Transcripts marked “Issued to Student” will not be considered official.
  • Degrees earned outside the United States must be evaluated by a professional credentialing service provider approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
  • Employment is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of advanced programming areas, including modern machine learning and deep learning methods
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred: mechanical engineering, electrical & computer engineering, or computer science.
  • The successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate complex concepts to undergraduate and graduate students, foster a collaborative learning environment, and remain current with developments in their field.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in engineering education research is expected; certification, training, or comparable experience in engineering education research is considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching, updating, and developing undergraduate and graduate engineering courses
  • Online and face‐to‐face instruction
  • Research in support of teaching
  • Service and teaching activities at the local, state, and national level, as well as at the university level, as directed by the department chair
  • Teaching assignments will be made according to background and experience and will be six to eight sections per year based on mutual agreement.
