About The Position

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida is soliciting applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Master Lecturer (working title Assistant/Associate/Full Instructional Professor). The ECE Department in the HWCOE is a vibrant, multidisciplinary, and highly collaborative environment. The Department’s external research expenditures are at a record high, $34M. The ECE graduate program ranks #20 among public ECE departments according to U.S. News and World Report. The department leads several university-wide multidisciplinary institutes related to electronics including the Warren B. Nelms Institute for the Connected World, the Florida Institute for CyberSecurity (FICS) Research, and the Florida Semiconductor Institute. The University of Florida (UF) is the flagship campus of the State of Florida university system and is consistently ranked among the nation’s top public universities. UF is home to HiPerGator, the fastest AI supercomputer in higher education, and the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is undergoing a major expansion in faculty, research, and facilities with a strong focus on artificial intelligence. In Fall 2023, UF opened Malachowsky Hall for Data Science & Information Technology, a 260,000-square-foot facility that serves as the hub for AI.

Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching
  • Experience teaching and developing courses in Signals and Systems, Data Science, Digital Signal Processing, or closely related areas
  • Experience developing and maintaining instructional laboratories and associated facilities
  • Familiarity with modern computational and simulation tools used in electrical and computer engineering education
  • Interest in engineering education research and pedagogical innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching, revising, and developing undergraduate engineering courses and laboratories/facilities in areas such as: Signals and Systems, Data Science, and Digital Signal Processing.
  • Participate in department, university, and professional service activities and educational research activities.
