About The Position

The Department of Teacher Education at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part-time lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool ad will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31, 2027. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15, 2027.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education or related field
  • Professional or permanent state-issued certification in an education field
  • Five or more years of successful P-12 teaching and/or administrative experience
  • Knowledge of research-based practices and strategies
  • Knowledge of content area curricula and standards
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and belongingness in the classroom and workplace
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative curriculum design
  • US residence and proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Must perform work from within the State of California.
  • Must have an on-campus presence for in-person duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree is preferred
  • Expertise in content area at relevant grade level (e.g. social studies education, mathematics education, literacy education)
  • Experience as a mentor or coach in a preservice or in-service context (e.g. instructional coach, or early career teacher mentor)
  • Site based leadership

  • The anticipated salary range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
  • Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
