The English Education program invites applications for a nine-month non-tenure track Lecturer or Instructional Assistant Professor (depending on qualifications). This position will provide instruction within the English Education sequence, which will include teaching introductory English Education and methods coursework and fieldwork as well as supervising teacher candidates and student teachers. Coursework in the major develops content knowledge and discipline-specific pedagogy informed by current theory and research in the field as well as diverse clinical experiences. We invite teacher candidates to enact socially just English Language Arts teaching and learning, and our cohort model engages teacher candidates in a professional learning community that sustains ongoing reflection, inquiry, and advocacy. This position offers a variable teaching load with a competitive salary and benefits. The selected candidate will work closely with and under the direction of the Director of English Education and must also be able to work effectively with students, professionals in the field, and other staff and faculty in the program. The ISU English Teacher Education Program resides in a vibrant English Department that emphasizes an English Studies model in its undergraduate, MA, and PhD programs and includes scholars in the fields of Children’s Literature, Composition, Creative Writing, English Education, Linguistics, Literary and Cultural Studies, Publishing Studies, Rhetoric, TESOL, and Technical Communication.
