About The Position

The University of Colorado Denver's College of Arts & Media (CAM), specifically the Film & Television department, is seeking a part-time Lecturer specializing in Acting for the Screen. This role involves teaching acting and performance-related courses, mentoring students, and contributing to a dynamic, collaborative faculty team. The Film & Television program offers a BFA in Film and Television, known for its hands-on, cohort-based curriculum, affordability, and strong industry connections. The program has been recognized by MovieMaker Magazine and provides students with access to professional gear and a unique BFA Production Program in the region. The integrated Acting for the Screen emphasis is designed to work closely with filmmaking students, fostering essential on-set collaboration. This is an ongoing posting for a lecturer pool, with applications reviewed as needs arise.

Requirements

  • MFA or BA in Acting
  • 3 years of experience in acting or directing for the screen at the professional level.
  • 2 years of experience teaching acting for the screen (high school level, college level, or community based productions).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in acting for film and television.
  • Ability to bridge traditional conservatory training with film-specific applications.
  • Ability to mentor and inspire students in a dynamic learning environment.
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative faculty culture.
  • The capacity to help shape the future of a growing program.
  • A passion for teaching and a desire to mentor and inspire students.
  • The ability to weigh alternatives and apply creative and technical expertise to a teaching role.
  • The capacity to work effectively with colleagues and students in a collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • MFA degree
  • More than 3 years of experience acting or directing for the screen at the professional level.
  • Demonstrated mastery of professional vocal or physical pedagogies.
  • Experience teaching acting for the screen at the college level.
  • Voice certifications (Linklater, Fitzmaurice, etc.)
  • Movement certifications (Alexander, Laban, Chekhov, Lecoq, Sensory Training, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Teach acting and performance related courses, including acting, directing, movement, and/or voice.
  • Mentor aspiring professionals in acting for film and television.
  • Guide students through real-world projects, helping them develop essential technical and artistic skills.
  • Contribute to shaping a program known for its collegiality, creative innovation, and commitment to student growth.
  • Inspire and train the next cohort of filmmakers with practical, hands-on experience.
