About The Position

The Film & Television department within the College of Arts & Media (CAM) at the University of Colorado Denver is seeking a part-time Lecturer specializing in Acting. This role involves teaching acting and performance related courses, mentoring students, and contributing to a dynamic learning environment. The program offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Film and Television with an integrated Acting for the Screen emphasis, preparing students for careers in the film and television industry. This is an ongoing posting for a lecturer pool, with applications reviewed as needs arise. Lecturer appointments are at-will, and teaching assignments are determined semester by semester.

Requirements

  • MFA or BA in Acting.
  • 3 years of experience in acting or directing for the screen at the professional level.
  • 2 years of experience teaching acting for the screen (high school level, college level, or community based productions).

Nice To Haves

  • MFA degree.
  • More than 3 years of experience acting or directing for the screen at the professional level.
  • Demonstrated mastery of professional vocal or physical pedagogies.
  • Experience teaching acting for the screen at the college level.
  • Certifications in Voice (Linklater, Fitzmaurice, etc.) and/or Movement (Alexander, Laban, Chekhov, Lecoq, Sensory Training, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Inspiring and training the next cohort of filmmakers with practical, hands-on experience.
  • Guiding students through real-world projects, helping them develop essential technical and artistic skills.
  • Teaching acting and performance related courses, including acting, directing, movement, and/or voice.
  • Mentoring aspiring professionals.
  • Contributing to shaping a program known for its collegiality, creative innovation, and commitment to student growth.
