About The Position

This is a lecturer position within the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (NREM) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa for the Academic Year 2026-2027. The position is temporary, part-time, and non-tenure track. Lecturers are required to reside in and teach from Hawaii. The position is contingent upon student enrollment, position availability, course offerings, departmental need, and funding.

Requirements

  • M.S. degree in agriculture, natural resources or environmental management or related field from an accredited university/institution by time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach college-level face-to-face lecture and laboratory courses.
  • Working knowledge of natural resources or environmental management.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. or doctoral degree in agriculture, natural resources or environmental management or related field from an accredited university/institution.
  • Success teaching large-enrollment sections and supervising GTAs/labs.
  • Demonstrated hands-on training innovations (e.g. data analysis, GIS, remote sensing).
  • Experience coordinating internships and industry partnerships.
  • Experience advising student clubs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more courses within NREM, including Applied Calculus for Management, Life Sciences, and Human Resources; Agricultural and Resource Economics; Natural Resources Management; Natural Resource and Environmental Policy; Fundamentals of Soil Science/Laboratory; Statistics in Agriculture and Human Resources; Geographic Information Systems for Resource Managers; Internship Experience; and Environmental Problem Solving.
  • Conduct all scheduled classes.
  • Meet course requirements as established by the department/program.
  • Prepare course syllabus.
  • Set exams and homework.
  • Grade assignments and exams.
  • Maintain weekly office hours.
  • Be accessible to students.
