The Department of Bioengineering at Santa Clara University is seeking applications for quarterly lecturers (QLs) for the 2026-2027 academic year to teach Bioengineering courses. Santa Clara University operates on a quarter system, with each quarter (fall, winter, and spring) consisting of 10 weeks followed by an examination week. Graduate classes are typically scheduled in the early morning or evening slots, while undergraduate classes are held throughout the day, Monday through Friday. Quarterly Lecturers are permitted to teach a maximum of 4-course equivalencies (CEs) per academic year, with no more than 2 CEs in any single quarter. Additionally, QLs have the opportunity to teach an extra 2 CEs during the summer terms. The standard course equivalencies are defined as: Undergraduate: 4-unit lecture = 1 CE, 1-unit lab = 0.5 CE, 1-unit lab with a teaching assistant (TA) = 0.25 CE. Graduate: 4-unit lecture = 1 CE, 2-unit lecture = 0.66 CE.
