About The Position

The Department of Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's College of Education is seeking a faculty member in the category of Specialized Faculty with a focus on Trauma Informed Education. This is a full-time, on campus, nine-month, non-tenure-track position. The department has an outstanding reputation for its innovative programs in trauma-informed education. The successful candidate will join the College of Education to engage in teaching that will create transformative learning experiences for students and impact society. The role involves teaching courses in equity-centered trauma-informed education, primarily for the Trauma-Informed Practices and Pedagogy (TIPP) concentration in the online master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction. Additional courses will be assigned based on the candidate’s expertise and may be offered face-to-face or online. The faculty member will also play a role in coordinating the Trauma-Informed Education undergraduate and graduate programs and courses.

Requirements

  • An earned PhD in education or a related field is required prior to the start of the position.
  • Experience in the use of technology for instructional delivery, including online course delivery, is required.

  • Earned doctorate with a research focus in Trauma-Informed Education or related area.
  • Relevant teaching experience in PreK-12th grades.
  • Significant experience in multicultural and diverse educational settings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teacher education and professional development.
  • Prior university teaching experience.
  • Expertise in additional content areas where the department of Curriculum & Instruction currently offers courses (i.e., early childhood education, literacy, math, science, or social studies).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach master’s level courses related to equity-centered, trauma-informed education.
  • Contribute to the development of undergraduate programs in Trauma-Informed Education.
  • Teach additional courses in Curriculum and Instruction based on the candidate’s areas of expertise.
  • Provide service at state and local levels related to trauma-informed education.
