Fayetteville State University (FSU), a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina system, is seeking a strategic, visionary, thoughtful, and community-building leader to serve as the Dean of the College of Education. FSU is a public, comprehensive, historically Black university founded in 1867, known for its strong commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and social mobility. The university offers robust and innovative degree programs rooted in the liberal arts tradition and advances knowledge through the integration of teaching, learning, research, and public service. The College of Education (COE) at FSU is committed to preparing highly qualified educators and leaders who are competent, committed, and caring, addressing the educational needs of diverse and underrepresented populations, especially in rural and underserved communities. The Dean serves as the chief academic officer and academic leader of the College, representing the College to the University and other constituents, managing the College's resources, and overseeing personnel matters. The Dean is responsible for developing and articulating a vision and strategic plan, managing the budget, promoting excellence in teaching, research, and service, facilitating collaborative relationships, mentoring department chairs, and completing other assigned duties.
