About The Position

The Health Sciences Division and Program of Nursing at UNM-Valencia is seeking to hire a Lecturer II or III in Nursing. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track position starting January 11, 2027. UNM-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch community college focused on teaching excellence, offering vocational, technical, and academic transfer courses to approximately 2,000 students each semester. The role involves teaching the ADN program core curriculum, supervising labs, collecting student progress data, acting as a clinical resource and advisor, assisting with faculty recruitment and student recruitment, coordinating clinical training, and working with a diverse student population. Responsibilities also include maintaining student records, holding office hours, participating in college committees, curriculum development, outcomes assessment, professional development, departmental projects, and community service.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN)
Current RN license to practice Nursing in New Mexico or a valid compact license

Nice To Haves

Doctoral degree in Nursing
One year of teaching experience at a post-secondary institution
Experience in an ADN Nursing Program
Strong commitment to teaching, scholarly activities and professional service
Clinical experience within the past five years
A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities

Responsibilities

Teaching the ADN program core curriculum
Scheduling courses and supervising labs as needed
Collecting and analyzing data regarding student progress
Acting as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for student advisement
Assisting in the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of faculty
Assisting in recruiting students
Coordinating and conducting clinical training, including coordinating sites, documentation, and student preparation
Collecting and analyzing data regarding student progress and certification
Performing related duties as assigned
Working with low-income, first-generation, minority students, disabled students, students with diverse backgrounds, and veterans
Maintaining attendance, scholastic, and student records
Posting and maintaining office hours
Participating in college committees, curriculum development, outcomes assessment, professional development, departmental projects, and community service
