About The Position
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) at the University of Virginia is seeking a part-time Wage Lecturer. This role involves collaborating with faculty to develop a new course, 'Processing of Polymeric Materials,' and then teaching it as a Special Topics elective for undergraduate students in the Spring 2027 semester. The appointment is expected to start in Fall 2026 (September 2026) with a total compensation of $7,000.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated teaching experience and/or relevant expertise in the related subject area.
Responsibilities
- Developing, preparing, and distributing course materials
- Delivering classroom instruction and maintaining scheduled contact hours
- Holding office hours and meeting with students as scheduled
- Evaluating student performance through grading and assessment
- Providing student advising and mentoring
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
