About The Position

North Central College's School of Business and Entrepreneurship is seeking a full-time Lecturer in Business to begin August 1, 2026. This role involves teaching undergraduate business courses, including an introduction to business and a career/professional development course. The position carries a teaching load of 24 credits per academic year, with potential for other courses based on qualifications. Responsibilities include assessing student work, providing feedback, and mentoring students. The lecturer will also attend conferences, engage with faculty for professional development, and complete required campus training. A significant part of the role includes serving as the Coordinator of SBE Experiential Learning and Student Success Initiatives, assisting the dean and department chairs in developing and implementing an experiential learning strategy and a four-year framework for business majors. This coordination involves developing co-curricular programs focused on professional skills, networking, leadership, and entrepreneurship, collaborating with other college units, supporting faculty in creating experiential learning opportunities, and coordinating key lower-division undergraduate business courses. This includes organizing faculty meetings and high-impact practices in alignment with college coordinators.

Requirements

  • Completed a graduate degree in Business or related field.
  • Recent engagement with industry.
  • Meets AACSB faculty qualifications in one of the categories.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing scholarship.
  • Experience or interest coordinating curriculum and co-curricular programming.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal degree in business or related field such as Ph.D., D.B.A., or J.D.
  • Demonstrated excellence in both teaching and research.
  • Experience with student success and co-curricular programming and management.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and communities is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent instruction in a variety of undergraduate business courses.
  • Teach a first-year introduction to business course.
  • Teach a second-year business career/professional development course.
  • Assess students’ work and provide detailed feedback.
  • Mentor undergraduate students through one-on-one and group interactions and independent study opportunities.
  • Attend conferences and workshops as necessary to remain active in the field(s) of study and qualifications for AACSB accreditation.
  • Engage with department and School of Business and Entrepreneurship faculty to further develop teaching and mentoring skills.
  • Complete campus-wide training required by the Offices of Academic Affairs and Human Resources.
  • Perform other departmental duties and attend activities as necessary, including attending faculty meetings, and participating in committees, task forces, and others as required.
  • Serve as the Coordinator of SBE Experiential Learning and Student Success Initiatives.
  • Assist the dean and department chairs with the development and implementation of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship experiential learning strategy and program design.
  • Develop and implement a four-year experiential, career, and professional skills development framework for business majors.
  • Coordinate co-curricular programs that build professional skills, networking, leadership, and entrepreneurial mindset for students at each stage of their academic journey.
  • Collaborate with related units across the college.
  • Support faculty in development of signature experiential learning opportunities.
  • Coordinate key lower division undergraduate business course including holding faculty meetings, organizing high impact practices in coordination with dean’s council, assurance of learning coordinator, and accreditation coordinator.
