The Department of Environment and Geography at California State University San Marcos is accepting applications for Fall 2026 for a Lecturer position to teach GEOG 450: Parks and Protected Areas. This is an upper-division majors course with no prerequisites. The course explores themes of human-environment interaction, sustainability, and conservation using U.S. and international parks and protected areas as case studies. It examines the history of parks and protected areas, including the development of the U.S. National Park system, and evolving ideas regarding wilderness, public space, multiple-use principles, and sustainability. The modality is in-person, and the class is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
