The Department of Environment and Geography at California State University San Marcos is accepting applications for Fall 2026 for a Lecturer position to teach GEOG 310: Climate Change and Life in the Anthropocene. This is an upper-division physical science general education (UD25) course. The course examines the physical basis of the climate system, including solar, atmospheric, biologic, and geologic evidence supporting our understanding of Earth’s past, present, and future climate cycles. It compares recent climate data with past climates to demonstrate current climate changes, leading to the designation of a new era, “The Anthropocene.” The course concludes with an examination of climate modeling and potential impacts on Earth and human systems, such as biological diversity, water issues, and international treaties. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
