About The Position

The Anthropology & Sociology Department at Ursinus College is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach one lecture section of Forensic Anthropology in the fall semester, running from August 24, 2026, to December 18, 2026. The course meets weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm. Forensic anthropology is a specialized area within biological anthropology that utilizes osteology and biomechanics for forensic science applications. This dynamic field has direct relevance to the criminal justice system. Course content covers human osteology, crime scene investigation, recovery and analysis of human remains, determining postmortem interval, trauma analysis, and the application of advanced techniques. The course is three hours per week and carries four semester hours.

Requirements

  • Hold a graduate degree in anthropology or be in the process of pursuing one.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one lecture section of Forensic Anthropology during the fall semester.
  • Cover course topics including human osteology, crime scene investigation, search, recovery and taphonomy of human remains, laboratory analysis, postmortem interval, trauma analysis, and innovative techniques.
