Additionally, they fulfill institutional responsibilities such as compliance processes, meetings, and supporting the university’s broader mission of education and community engagement.

Requirements

  • Minimum earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English from a regionally accredited institution or university.
  • Teaching experience in online course delivery is desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to teach dual-enrolled sections of English at area high schools, as needed
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with students, staff, and other faculty
  • Ability to facilitate and adapt courses and the course content
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines
  • This position is security sensitive
  • This position will require export-control authorization prior to starting employment.
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements
  • Must be available to teach on-campus, in-person courses as well as hybrid courses

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses as assigned by the department, including lower level and introductory course
  • Will teach five sections per fall/spring semesters.
  • Courses include first-year composition and sophomore introduction to literature courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Demonstrated history of quality teaching is expected.
  • Deliver instruction in various formats, including on campus and online environments when needed.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
  • Develop course materials such as syllabi, assignments, and assessments aligned with departmental expectations.
  • Engage in scholarly or creative activities appropriate to the discipline, contributing to the university’s research mission.
  • Maintain an active research agenda that may include publications, presentations, or applied scholarships.
  • Incorporate research developments into teaching and curriculum updates, enhancing academic quality.
  • Participate in departmental activities, including meetings, curriculum development, and assessment initiatives.
  • Serve the university by contributing to program accreditation, student recruitment, and community engagement aligned with TAMUK’s mission of service to South Texas
  • Provide academic advising, mentorship, and guidance to students as part of departmental and institutional service expectations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
