About The Position

The Construction Management Department in the College of Architecture & Environmental Design at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking a full-time lecturer for the 2026-2027 academic year, with the possibility of reappointment to an additional year based on department needs and satisfactory performance. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate Construction Management courses. Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2023, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are: Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677 Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224 Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523 Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211 Anticipated hiring range: $82,000 - $93,024 per year. The position start date is August 17, 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Construction Management or closely related discipline from an accredited institution or comparable institution.
  • Five (5) years of relevant teaching experience and/or professional construction experience employed in increasingly responsible management positions primarily in the US construction or comparable industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds to foster a supportive and inclusive environment in and out of the classroom.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.
  • Ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching and/or work experience in the areas of construction methods and materials, construction estimating and scheduling, construction contracts, and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with construction related software.
