About The Position

The Department of Communication and Media Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach COMM 330: Intercultural Communication. COMM 330: Intercultural Communication is an introduction to traditional and critical theories, concepts, and principles regarding communication between and about people of different racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Takes a culture-general approach to examining the relationship among culture, communication, context (social, historical, political), and power. Emphasizes domestic issues with attention given to how they impact, and are impacted by, international communities. The department has two (2) Bachelor's degree programs: Communication and Media Studies.

Requirements

  • ABD in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness with in-person classroom instruction and Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctorate in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field
  • Pertinent expertise to teach courses in our Communication/Media Studies programs
  • Higher education teaching experience with minimum of 1 year as teacher of record pertinent to subject area
  • Demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
