About The Position

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to lecture CHEM 202L: Organic Chemistry Lab. This is the second course of a sequence designed to introduce students majoring in science to the properties of organic compounds. The entire sequence covers bonding structure, stereochemistry, nomenclature, chemical and physical properties of each functional group, acid/base phenomena, reaction mechanisms and kinetics, organic synthesis, and an introduction to spectroscopic structure determination. The position is for the Fall 2026 semester, with classes on Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The modality is in-person, within the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (CSTEM).

Requirements

  • A Master of Science in Chemistry
  • Experience teaching chemistry at the college level
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry
  • Experience teaching a course in analytical chemistry or instrumental analysis
  • Demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
