About The Position
The Psychology Program at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) invites applications for a part-time lecturer position with an expected start date of August 19, 2026. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or a closely related area is preferred. Post-doctoral research experience will be considered an asset and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence in teaching will be required. Teaching responsibilities will include lecture instruction in Clinical and Abnormal Psychology at the undergraduate level and contribution to components in curricula for Psychology. CSUCI seeks candidates with a proven commitment to an interdisciplinary, integrative, and innovative approach to teaching and learning, including the use of technology to improve student engagement, learning outcomes, and academic success.
Requirements
- A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or a closely related area from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively teach undergraduate courses in Clinical and Abnormal Psychology.
- Demonstrate the commitment to working within a student-centered environment.
- Demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success.
Nice To Haves
- A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or a closely related area.
- A record of a minimum of one year of effective teaching in psychology at the university level.
- Evidence of commitment and ability to work with psychologists of different specializations and faculty from other disciplines.
- Licensed or license-eligible in Clinical Psychology or a closely related area in the state of California.
- Willingness to teach a broad spectrum of psychology courses in an in-person instructional format.
- Demonstrated expertise working in diverse communities and community settings.
- Experience in the use of innovative instructional strategies and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in Clinical and Abnormal Psychology in an in-person instructional format.
- Teach 3 units per semester.
- Meet with students during scheduled office hours.
- Prepare and grade assignments and examinations.
- Develop course syllabi.
- Keep up-to-date with theories as well as current applications and development of pedagogy in the field.
- May carry administrative duties such as producing teaching methodologies and materials and providing student support.
- Participate in routine services to the department, college, and the University.
