About The Position

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Merrimack College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach an undergraduate laboratory section of Behavioral Neuroscience (PSY3150) starting in the Fall 2026 semester. The Behavioral Neuroscience course examines the relationship between the neurophysiology of the brain and cognition, covering topics such as the neurophysiology of vision, touch, learning, memory, sleep, mental illness, hemispheric functions, and consciousness. Special emphasis is placed on neuronal plasticity's role in altering brain structure and function after injury or learning. The lab section will reinforce lecture content through hands-on exercises, demonstrations, and data collection/analysis activities, meeting in person weekly.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Behavioral Neuroscience, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the content area(s) of the course(s) being taught.
  • Experience teaching laboratory or applied science courses.
  • Ability to describe in their application how they will foster a culture that supports Merrimack's Catholic and Augustinian mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Psychology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience teaching graduate-level courses.
  • Applied or research experience involving neurophysiological methods, human behavioral testing, or related laboratory techniques.
  • Experience with lab equipment and/or software relevant to behavioral neuroscience instruction (e.g., EEG, physiological recording, behavioral tracking software).
  • Familiarity with APA and Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) principles and guidelines.

Benefits

  • Compensation Minimum: $5,000 per 4-credit course
  • Compensation Minimum: $3,750 per lab section
