About The Position
The Department of Philosophy at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for its Lecturer pool for part-time teaching appointments. Cal Poly Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22-campus California State University system. The university is known for its learn-by-doing approach and Teacher Scholar Model. The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) offers a vibrant hands-on experience through disciplines in the humanities, performing arts, and social sciences, aiming to cultivate intellectual development, ethical reasoning, and aesthetic sensibility. The Department of Philosophy is a small, welcoming department that helps students think critically about philosophical problems, offering options for students considering graduate school or law school, and is the administrative home of the Science, Technology, and Society major, including a focus on the ethical dimensions of AI.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Philosophy
Nice To Haves
- A Ph.D. in Philosophy
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching.
- Experience teaching online and hybrid courses.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
- Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses.
