The Department of Philosophy at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona is inviting applications for its Lecturer pool for part-time teaching appointments. Cal Poly Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the California State University system, known for its integrative experiential learning, learn-by-doing approach, and Teacher Scholar Model. The university has nearly 30,000 students and over 1,400 faculty, offering a variety of degree programs. The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) fosters intellectual development, ethical reasoning, and aesthetic sensibility, promoting creative and critical thinking within a diverse and inclusive environment. The Department of Philosophy is a small, welcoming department focused on critical thinking about traditional and contemporary philosophical problems, offering a general option and a law and society option, and is home to the Science, Technology, and Society major. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled based on student enrollment and funding, potentially requiring short notice. Teaching opportunities are available for Fall (late August to mid-December), Spring (mid-January to mid-May), and Summer Sessions. The department seeks experienced and student-centered individuals to teach courses such as Introduction to Philosophy, Critical Thinking, Ethics, Philosophy of Love and Sex (Upper Division General Education), and Asian Philosophy (Upper Division Major requirement).
