About The Position

The Department of Early Childhood Studies at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer positions in the department of Early Childhood Studies. The College of Education and Integrative Studies is a learning community focused on meeting the present and future needs of students in its communities. The college educates students to become highly qualified and significant leaders in society. It is committed to the principles of diversity, ethics and social justice, and life-long learning. Central to the college’s mission is innovation and integrative thinking, reflective practice, collaborative action, and learning by doing. The college’s four departments include two undergraduate degrees and academic programs—Liberal Studies and Early Childhood Studies—and two graduate departments—Education and Educational Leadership. There are 1,376 students enrolled and 41 faculty in the college. The Early Childhood Studies (ECS) program is distinctive because the major emphasizes the first eight years of life and the significance of this period in children's overall development. While at Cal Poly Pomona, Early Childhood Studies students learn processes important for early childhood development and identify implications of theory in the examination and application of principles and practices within diverse family, program, and community contexts. The curriculum in Early Childhood Studies (ECS) offers 3 teaching options that advocate for understanding diversity and inclusivity from a multilingual lens. The faculty use service learning, practicum (student teaching), face-to-face, hybrid, and online pedagogy in order to provide the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to work with children and families during the most critical developmental time in a child's life.
