About The Position

This is an applicant pool for Lecturer positions in Astronomy for the Academic Year 2026-2027. These positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, sufficient student enrollment, position clearance, and availability of funding. Lecturers must be available to teach courses during the day, evening, weekend, and/or via distance learning, as needed. Duties include conducting lectures and/or laboratories for the Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Astronomy, teaching General Education lecture and/or laboratory astronomy courses, and maintaining a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in astronomy or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Evidence of satisfactory teaching ability.
  • Must be available to teach courses during the day, evening, weekend, and/or via distance learning, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • College-level astronomy teaching experience beyond the teaching assistant level.
  • Demonstrated high-quality teaching in a multicultural setting.
  • Experience with astronomy laboratory equipment, in particular small aperture telescopes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct lectures and/or laboratories for the Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Astronomy.
  • Teach General Education lecture and/or laboratory astronomy courses offered by the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
  • Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
