About The Position

Penn State Behrend invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-line teaching position in its nursing program, at the Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor level. The position serves the Second-Degree Nursing Program, an accelerated 16-month Bachelor of Science in Nursing pathway for adult learners who already hold a bachelor’s degree. The appointment is for 36 weeks, with excellent potential for renewal; continuation beyond the discussed term depends on university need, performance, and/or funding. Appointment dates may fall during Spring and Summer or Summer and Fall semesters, depending on departmental needs. The anticipated start date is Spring 2027. The successful candidate will primarily teach pediatrics and may teach other nursing courses as needed, with assignments informed by the candidate’s expertise and experience. Teaching may take place in simulation labs, acute-care settings, long-term-care facilities, and other community settings. The position also includes student advising, college and university committee participation, and service and scholarship as appropriate. Onsite teaching is an essential function. Doctoral preparation, such as a DNP or PhD, is preferred. Candidates with a doctorate may be considered for Assistant Teaching Professor; candidates with a master’s degree in nursing may also be considered and hired at the Instructor rank, with a requirement to obtain a doctorate within five years of hire. Applicants must hold a valid RN license and be eligible for RN licensure in Pennsylvania. Evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and subject-matter expertise is required. Nurse educator and specialty certifications are preferred. The position includes full benefits.
