Lecturer, Anatomy and Physiology
About The Position
The Department of Biology at James Madison University invites applications for a renewable term faculty member who will teach existing human anatomy and human physiology laboratory and lecture courses. The successful candidate will join an established community of faculty within the department whose teaching responsibilities and interests are centered on human anatomy and physiology. These faculty contribute to the Anatomy and Physiology concentration and support the education of biology majors and students pursuing pre-health professions. The successful candidate may also have opportunities to contribute to future curricular development and redesign in human anatomy and physiology, including the potential development of online course offerings. Hiring will be at the Lecturer rank, for a 10-month appointment beginning August 2027 and is annually renewable. This is a promotable position.
Requirements
- A Master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent terminal degree in physiology, anatomy, biomedical science, or a related field is required.
- The successful candidate must demonstrate the use of evidence-based pedagogical practices; effective communication and collaboration skills; familiarity with instructional technologies; and a commitment to student success through active learning and accessible teaching practices that support students with a range of backgrounds, experiences, and educational needs.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience teaching undergraduate courses in these or related fields is preferred.
- Experience developing or teaching online anatomy and/or physiology courses would be beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Teaching responsibilities will primarily focus on existing introductory human anatomy and human physiology labs and lectures.
- Service and scholarship expectations are commensurate with role and contract type.
